PVC in mist eliminators
PVC — an acid-resistant polymer with temperature limitations
PVC is used in mist eliminator elements and frames for a range of acidic media. Its strengths are chemical resistance and manufacturability; the limitations are the temperature range and mechanical strength when heated.
When to consider it
- acidic aqueous media within a moderate temperature range;
- assemblies where welding/gluing of elements is more practical than metal.
Caveats
- temperature limits — per the PVC producer documentation;
- solvent resistance — per the compatibility tables;
- flammability — check it if the project sets such requirements.
