Mesh mist eliminators

Droplet capture and coalescence on mesh layers — service and washing are mandatory

Schematic diagram, not an installation drawing.

A mesh pad is layers of wire or polymer mesh. Drops collide with the wires, deposit, merge with their neighbors and run downward. The mechanism also works with fine drops but is sensitive to fouling: deposits narrow the free area and change the duty — hence the requirement for regular washing.

Typical applications

  • assemblies with a moderate droplet load and access for service;
  • duties where handling fine droplet fractions matters — provided this is confirmed by the data sheet.

What to check before selecting

  1. Droplet load and the droplet fraction — from the process parameters.
  2. Washing: access, water supply or removal of the pad — depending on the site conditions.
  3. Velocity and ΔP — from the model data sheet, not “by analogy”.

What the manufacturer must state

This table is not a spec sheet: without the specific model datasheet, values stay “no data”. No typical numbers are ever substituted.

Values the manufacturer must state; without a document — “no data”.
ParameterValueStatus
Efficiency at a given droplet load—per the model data sheet
Minimum captured droplet diameter—per the model data sheet
Pressure drop ΔP—per the model data sheet
Mesh density, pack thickness—depends on the model
