Mist eliminator in a spray chamber
A separator at the spray chamber outlet — nozzles and a curtain of drops
Schematic diagram, not an installation drawing.
A spray chamber forms a dense curtain of drops; at the duct outlet the droplet load is at its maximum. The separator is placed at the chamber outlet: its task is to remove the drops without creating excessive resistance or disturbing the drainage.
Selection inputs
- the flow rate and section at the chamber outlet;
- the nozzle type and spray pressure (it affects the droplet fraction);
- the chemical composition of the spray liquid;
- pan drainage and service access.
Design options
Vane packs are the baseline solution for high droplet loads; mesh pads — when confirmed by the data sheet and with washing arranged. The spray medium affects the material choice — see “Materials”.
