Mist eliminator after a humidifier

Aerosol drops — yes; steam is not a mist eliminator task

Schematic diagram, not an installation drawing.

Humidifiers (spray, plate and ultrasonic types) release aerosol drops into the stream. A mist eliminator captures drops specifically; water vapor is a gas phase, and “capturing vapor” is not a mist eliminator task. Mixing up these concepts is a frequent specification error.

Selection inputs

  • the flow rate and air parameters before/after the humidifier;
  • the humidifier type and the expected droplet fraction;
  • flow orientation and drainage.

Design options

For large drops — a vane pack; for fine aerosol — a coalescing stage (with fiber carryover checked against the data sheet). Check the velocity in the section with the “Airflow velocity” tool.
